Pour combler ces manques, des photos aériennes prises durant les périodes 1950, 1964 et 1997 ont été assemblées en mosaïques, qui ont ensuite été numérisées, géoréférencées et interprétées pour délimiter 28 classes d’habitats du poisson. Pour chacune des trois périodes, l’interprétation a permis de délimiter et de géoréférencer des polygones (p. ex. : prairie humide, culture pérenne) et des éléments linéaires (p. ex. : haies brise-vent, bandes riveraines, routes), qui ont été compilés avec leurs attributs (classe d’habitat, longueur, périmètre, surface). Pour faciliter et raffiner les analyses ultérieures, l’ensemble des polygones et des éléments linéaires ont été découpés à l’aide de plusieurs couches d’information contenant les limites des municipalités régionales de comté, des bassins versants, de plusieurs scénarios d’inondation et de trois grands ensembles, soit les rives nord et sud du lac Saint-Pierre et l’archipel de Sorel. Ce rapport décrit les méthodes utilisées et les contraintes rencontrées, il présente certaines limites d’interprétation ainsi qu’une analyse sommaire des classes d’habitats durant les trois périodes étudiées. L’analyse des tendances temporelles de la dynamique des habitats selon les trois périodes reste à faire. Les fichiers sources contenant les données sont rendus publics et donc disponibles à tous ceux qui s’intéressent à l’utilisation du sol dans la plaine inondable du lac Saint-Pierre et qui souhaitent analyser en profondeur les changements survenus dans les paysages et les habitats depuis cinquante ans en fonction de leurs champs d’intérêt (p. ex. : habitat du poisson, nidification de la sauvagine, paysages agricoles). Recent efforts to model spring breeding habitats of fish in the St. Lawrence have revealed significant gaps in land use descriptions for the floodplains of Lac Saint-Pierre. In order to fill these gaps, aerial photographs taken in 1950, 1964 and 1997 were assembled in mosaic fashion and then digitized, georeferenced and interpreted to categorize 28 fish habitat classes. For each of the three periods, interpretation made it possible to categorize and georeference polygons (e.g. wet meadows, perennial crops) and linear elements (e.g. windbreaks, riparian strips, roads) and to compile these with their properties (habitat class, length, perimeter, surface area). To facilitate and refine subsequent analyses, all polygons and linear elements were delineated with the aid of several layers of information, including the boundaries of regional county municipalities, drainage basins, several flood scenarios, and three large units: the north and south shores of Lac Saint-Pierre and the Sorel archipelago. This report describes the methods used and the constraints encountered; it also presents certain interpretation limits and a summary analysis of habitat classes in the three periods studied. A temporal trend analysis of habitat dynamics in the three periods has yet to be completed.
